BTech Entrance Exam

For getting admission for B. Tech degree course in a particular university, the students will have to get through the entrance exam conducted by the university. Apart from the common entrance exam AIEEE, some of the universities and colleges even conduct the entrance exams on their own for admitting students for the B. Tech course and the details of some of these entrance exams are mentioned below:

Most of the top universities admit students to the B. Tech course on the basis of the merit obtained by them in the All India Common Entrance Test (CET), AIEEE, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the various councils. Universities offer B. Tech in Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, CSE, ECE, Mechanical engineering, automation engineering, EEE, civil engineering and instrumentation and control engineering. The eligibility criteria for applying to the Entrance Exam are that the students should have secured a minimum aggregate of 55% in physics, chemistry and mathematics in their 10+2 level. Students who have done diploma in technology can also apply for the CET for getting admission directly to the second year of B. Tech. These students should have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% in their diploma course in a reputed polytechnic. Even B. Sc graduates can apply for CET in these universities and these students should have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks with mathematics as a subject.

The Common Entrance Test for students applying for B. Tech after 10+2 pattern of education includes equal number of questions from physics, Chemistry and mathematics and for students after completing their diploma course includes equal number of questions from applied mechanics, applied mathematics, fundamentals of electrical engineering and electronics and fundamentals of mechanical engineering and computer awareness.

The CET question pattern for B. Sc gradates includes 40% of questions from B. Sc level mathematics and the balance 60% of questions equally from English, Analytical and logical reasoning and scientific aptitude.
